The
film is heated using a continuosly heated welding tool. The welding
temperature, which is permanently available, reduces the manufacturing
cycle. Backing films impede weld displacement.
With the heating element welding process- a generically related
process- on the other hand, the surfaces are pressed against a continuosly
heated welding mirror and then joined.
